Kyiv: Ukrainian military intelligence and artillery units have achieved a significant feat by disabling a Russian radar system valued at over $5 million, signaling a pivotal development in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The targeted radar, known as the 48Ya6-K1 Podlet, was rendered inoperative in a precision strike that effectively incapacitated its vital components, severely hampering its operational capacity.

Strategic Implications for Air Defense
In service since 2015, the Podlet radar holds immense strategic importance for the Russian military, functioning as a crucial early warning system crucial for coordinating air defense operations.
Responsible for detecting and transmitting target coordinates to anti-aircraft missile systems like the S-300 and S-400, this radar forms the backbone of Russia’s aerial defense strategy.

According to reports from the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), the attack specifically targeted the radar’s antenna feed system and its accompanying diesel power station.
