Security Forces Eliminate 18 Naxals, 3 Personnel Injured in Chhattisgarh Encounter

Three injured security personnel from the encounter between police and Naxals in the forest area of Chhotebethiya police station limits, Kanker district, were taken to Raipur hospital for treatment.

Raipur: In a significant operation, security personnel engaged in an encounter with Naxals in the forest area of Chhotebethiya police station limits, Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, resulting in the death of at least 18 insurgents, as confirmed by police sources on Tuesday.

IG Bastar P Sundarraj reported that three security personnel sustained injuries during the ongoing encounter.

The three security personnel wounded in a skirmish between police and Naxals in the wooded expanse of Chhotebethiya police station limits, Kanker district, were transported to Raipur hospital for medical care.

The Border Security Force (BSF) disclosed that the bodies of 18 Naxals were recovered from the encounter site, along with seven AK series rifles and three Light Machine Guns (LMGs).

A joint operation led by the BSF and the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of Naxals in the Chhotebethiya forest area.

As security forces closed in, the Naxals initiated gunfire, resulting in a fierce gun battle and the elimination of at least 18 CPI (Maoist) insurgents.
