Conor McGregor Set to Face Chandler at UFC 303 in June, Confirms Dana White

New York: Conor McGregor is poised to make his comeback to the octagon against Michael Chandler on June 29, marking his return three years after suffering a devastating leg injury during a bout with Dustin Poirier, announced Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White.

White revealed that the welterweight showdown will take center stage at UFC 303 in Las Vegas, sharing the news with reporters following Saturday’s UFC 300 event.

Irish fighter McGregor (22-6) has been sidelined since his tibia fracture led to a TKO loss to Poirier in July 2021. The injury necessitated surgery for the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion.

Former Bellator lightweight titleholder Chandler (23-8) faced a defeat at the hands of fellow American Poirier in his most recent fight in November 2022.

This highly anticipated matchup has been teased by the UFC for over a year, with McGregor and Chandler assuming coaching roles for opposing teams in the MMA-based reality show ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ last year.

McGregor himself confirmed the date and opponent for his upcoming bout in a video shared on X last December, hailing it as the “greatest comeback of all time”.
