Moscow: Amidst the tumultuous floods that have swept through the Orenburg region of Russia, the Orsk oil refinery has made the difficult decision to suspend its operations. The announcement came following the rupture of the city’s dam on Friday night, according to reports from Russian news agencies.
Situated approximately 1800 kilometers (1100 miles) to the east of Moscow, in close proximity to the border with Kazakhstan, the Orsk oil refinery stands as a vital cog in Russia’s oil industry. Boasting an annual capacity of six million tons of oil, its significance in the regional economy cannot be overstated.
