Taobao Collaborates with Chinese Startup on Groundbreaking Rocket Delivery System

Beijing: In a pioneering venture, Chinese rocket manufacturer Space Epoch has announced its collaboration with Alibaba’s online retail platform, Taobao, to develop reusable rockets for express deliveries. The ambitious project, unveiled on Sunday, aims to revolutionize global logistics by enabling deliveries to be completed within an hour.

According to Space Epoch, the project is currently in its preliminary trial stages. The goal is to engineer a rocket capable of transporting payloads of up to ten tons in a 120 cubic meter container. The announcement was made via Space Epoch’s official WeChat social media account.

While Space Epoch moves forward with its plans, Alibaba (9988.HK) has not yet provided a response to inquiries regarding the collaboration.

The Beijing-based Space Epoch intends to utilize its ‘Yuanxing-1’ rocket for this groundbreaking endeavor. The rocket successfully underwent ignition and offshore recovery tests last year, setting the stage for further development. However, the company acknowledges that realizing its objectives will pose significant challenges in the short term.
