India Initiates Rescue Efforts for Citizens Victimized by Cyber Fraud in Cambodia

New Delhi: The Indian government has taken proactive measures to rescue its citizens ensnared in employment schemes in Cambodia, where they have been coerced into participating in cyber fraud activities.

According to a statement from Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian embassy in Cambodia is collaborating closely with Cambodian authorities. Their joint efforts have led to the successful repatriation of approximately 250 Indian nationals, with 75 individuals rescued in the last three months alone.

Responding to Indian media reports indicating the plight of over 5,000 Indians trapped in Cambodia and coerced into perpetrating cyber frauds, Jaiswal emphasized ongoing collaboration with Cambodian authorities and Indian agencies to dismantle these fraudulent operations.

“We are also working with Cambodian authorities and with agencies in India to crack down on those responsible for these fraudulent schemes,” stated Jaiswal.

In addition to the rescue operations, the Indian government and its embassy in Cambodia have been issuing advisories to raise awareness among citizens regarding such fraudulent activities.

Despite these efforts, the Cambodian embassy in India has not yet provided a response to inquiries made by international news agencies.
