Sanjay Raut, a prominent Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP, disclosed the party’s list of 17 candidates for the upcoming general elections during a press conference on Wednesday. Under the leadership of former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, the Shiv Sena has nominated former Union minister Arvind Sawant for Mumbai South and Amol Kirtikar, son of sitting MP Gajanan Kirtikar, for Mumbai North-West.
Among other key candidates, Anil Desai will contest from Mumbai South-Central, while former Union minister Anant Geete has been nominated for the Raigad constituency. The announcement was made via Raut’s social media post.

Earlier indications by Uddhav Thackeray hinted at the candidature of Amol Kiritkar, Chandrahar Patil, and Anant Geete for Mumbai North-West, Sangli, and Raigad Lok Sabha seats, respectively.
As the electoral landscape takes shape, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena is expected to release its first list of candidates shortly. Meanwhile, NCP, another constituent of the MVA alliance, is yet to finalize its candidates.
The Maharashtra state elections will be held in five phases starting from April 19, with 48 Lok Sabha seats up for grabs, making it the second-largest state in terms of parliamentary representation after Uttar Pradesh. Parties are expected to finalize their nominations by the deadline on March 27 for the constituencies going to polls in the first phase on April 19.
