PM Modi Congratulates Russian President Putin on Re-election Victory

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on his resounding victory in the recent presidential election held on March 17.

Taking to the microblogging platform X, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his felicitations to President Putin and expressed his eagerness to further strengthen the bilateral relations between India and Russia. He emphasized the importance of nurturing the “time-tested special & privileged strategic partnership” shared between the two nations.

President Putin’s landslide victory in Russia’s post-Soviet election reaffirmed his enduring control over the country’s leadership. Despite protests from dissenting voices and criticism from Western nations regarding the fairness of the electoral process, Putin’s dominance remained unchallenged.

Earlier reports from March 10, citing senior government officials, suggested that PM Modi’s intervention prevented a potential nuclear confrontation between Russia and Ukraine in 2022. According to the CNN report, Russia had reportedly been preparing for a nuclear strike on Kyiv, with PM Modi’s diplomatic intervention averting a dire escalation of tensions.
