Antony Blinken Warns of Authoritarian Tech Threat to Democracy

Seoul: In a stark address on Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken sounded the alarm on the growing misuse of technology by authoritarian regimes to erode democratic principles and violate human rights. Speaking at the commencement of the Summit for Democracy in South Korea, Blinken urged for a united front in leveraging technology to bolster, rather than undermine, democratic values.

Blinken highlighted the collective efforts of governments and citizens aligned in their commitment to champion free and fair elections, stressing that the defense of democracy necessitates a unified approach.
