Lok Sabha Election 2024 Dates: Voting Scheduled from April 19 to June 1 in 7 Phases, Counting on June 4

The announcement will include crucial details such as voting dates, phases of voting across different states, and the announcement of results.

Today, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar disclosed the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections, spanning from April 19 to June 1, across seven phases. The counting of votes will commence on June 4. Additionally, Kumar announced the dates for assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on May 13, and Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim on April 19.

Approximately 96.8 crore eligible voters are expected to participate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, making it a significant event in the world’s largest democracy.

The voting process for the Lok Sabha polls will be conducted meticulously across 10.5 lakh polling stations, with 1.5 crore polling officials and security personnel deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of elections.

Key Dates for Lok Sabha Election 2024:

  • Voting Phases: April 19 to June 1
  • Counting of Votes: June 4

The polling will occur in seven phases as follows:

  1. Phase 1: April 19
  2. Phase 2: April 26
  3. Phase 3: May 7
  4. Phase 4: May 13
  5. Phase 5: May 20
  6. Phase 6: May 25
  7. Phase 7: June 1

The BJP recently released its second list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, dropping at least 28 sitting MPs while including three former Chief Ministers. Meanwhile, the Congress party has named a total of 82 candidates so far for the high-stakes Lok Sabha polls.
With the term of the current Lok Sabha ending on June 16, a new House must be constituted before that date.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar highlighted key statistics, stating, “We have 97 crore registered voters, 10.5 lakhs polling stations, 1.5 crores polling officials and security staff, 55 lakhs EVMs, 4 lakhs vehicles.”

As the anticipation builds, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar is en route to the venue for the announcement of dates for the Lok Sabha polls and Assembly polls in Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Andhra Pradesh.
