While the blaze has been brought under control, authorities mobilized a significant response team, dispatching 36 vehicles and 154 personnel for rescue operations.
This tragic incident follows the government’s issuance of detailed safety guidelines last year concerning the use of gas appliances and cookers. Despite these measures, deadly gas explosions continue to pose a threat.
Social media reports suggested that the explosion occurred near a cultural center in the town, with ongoing construction of a metro line nearby, as reported by the independent Chinese weekly, the Economic Observer.
City emergency authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the blast, with updates expected in due course.
