Texas Military Helicopter Crash Claims Three Lives, 3 Soldiers 1 Border Agent Died

In a devastating turn of events, a military helicopter crash near the southern border in Texas on Friday afternoon resulted in the loss of three lives, including two soldiers and one Border Patrol agent, as confirmed by officials. The helicopter, identified as a National Guard Lakota UH-72, succumbed to the accident during aviation operations near Rio Grande City, Texas, at approximately 2:50 p.m. MST, stated Joint Task Force North in a release on Friday evening.

According to the agency, one soldier sustained injuries in the crash, while the names of the deceased will be withheld until their next of kin have been duly informed.

Initial reports indicated the crash site in La Grulla, a small town situated in Starr County along the Rio Grande River, as relayed by Border Report. However, further investigation into the incident’s cause is ongoing. A National Guard representative had previously mentioned that the helicopter went down in La Grulla, Texas, approximately 40 miles west of McAllen, a prominent border city.
