Doha: Russian warship, the Pacific Fleet frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, has made its presence known in the Qatari port of Hamad, gearing up to participate in the highly anticipated DIMDEX-2024 defense exhibition, according to a report by Interfax news agency on Monday. The press service of the fleet relayed this information, marking the ship’s arrival and its upcoming involvement in the exhibition.
According to a report from the news agency Reuters, representatives from the Russian Embassy in Qatar and officers from the host country’s naval forces warmly welcomed the Russian warship in a ceremony held at the pier, emphasizing the significance of this event.
Having recently engaged in an anti-submarine exercise in the South China Sea in January, the Marshal Shaposhnikov embarked on what has been described as a “long-distance voyage” since January 22, as highlighted by Russian agencies.
The Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) is slated to kick off from March 4 to 6, as indicated on the exhibition’s official website, underlining its prominence in the realm of maritime defense and security.
