New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a dialogue with Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates during their meeting in New Delhi on Thursday. The discussions revolved around leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for public welfare, promoting women-led development, and fostering innovation in agriculture and healthcare.
Both leaders reiterated their commitment to sectors with the potential to improve the planet and uplift millions globally.
Expressing his sentiments on X, Gates emphasized the inspiration drawn from meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the breadth of topics they covered.
“We talked about AI for public good; DPI; women-led development; innovation in agriculture, health, and climate adaptation; and how we can take lessons from India to the world,” he conveyed.
In response, PM Modi echoed the sentiment, underscoring the pleasure of discussing sectors pivotal for global betterment.
“A wonderful meeting indeed! Always a delight to discuss sectors which will make our planet better and empower millions of people across the globe,” the Prime Minister shared on X.
Earlier, Gates also met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. During their interaction, they exchanged books, as depicted in a post on X shared by Jaishankar.
“A good book exchange with @BillGates. And a great conversation,” Jaishankar captioned the picture featuring him and Gates with their respective books.
Bill Gates, currently visiting India, commenced his journey in Odisha’s capital, Bhubaneswar, where he met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik prior to his arrival in Delhi. During his time in Bhubaneswar, he visited a local slum alongside state officials, inquiring about the well-being of its residents.
Reports suggest Gates will participate in the pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Gujarat’s Jamnagar.
