San Francisco: Humane, a startup with backing from Sam Altman, is currently in discussions with Indian telecommunications companies to introduce its innovative AI Pin device in the Indian market.
According to media reports, Humane, founded by former Apple executives Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri, is in negotiations with Indian telcos regarding the launch of its AI Pin device.
Imran Chaudhari stated, “We are starting early conversations with India telcos and hoping to be able to make announcements by the end of this year. The overwhelming number of inquiries that are coming to Humane are from India. It is the largest by far.”
Priced at $699 with a $24 monthly subscription, the AI Pin provides users with a dedicated phone number and unlimited data access for AI-driven queries. The device, designed to be worn on clothing or accessories, employs voice, gesture, and touch inputs to access AI services such as search, translation, and navigation.
Chaudhari emphasized that the AI Pin is not meant to replace smartphones but rather to complement them. Additionally, the company is exploring potential applications in the medical sector, including diagnostic purposes.

Why It Matters?
India’s interest in AI technology has been steadily increasing, as evidenced by the nation’s efforts to regulate AI and its rapid adoption of AI-driven solutions. During a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Altman praised India’s understanding of the benefits of AI, while Modi expressed India’s eagerness for AI collaborations to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
However, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar cautioned against assuming that Indian startups will blindly follow Altman’s lead. He emphasized that while Altman’s views are respected, they do not represent the definitive stance on India’s AI capabilities. The interest in Humane’s AI Pin in India underscores the country’s growing appetite for innovative AI solutions.
