A 5.8-magnitude earthquake rattled China’s Xinjiang region, specifically striking Akqi County in the Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture, on Sunday afternoon. According to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC), the tremor occurred at 12:14 p.m. (0414 GMT), with a depth of 11 km (6.84 miles).

As of 1:00 p.m., local authorities reported no casualties or collapsed structures. Xinhua noted that the affected area is sparsely populated, minimizing the potential impact. Additionally, there have been no disruptions to the local power grid, distribution networks, or train services.
