Dense fog envelops parts of UAE, motorists cautioned as red alert issued

Dense fog blankets parts of UAE, motorists urged to exercise caution

UAE Weather: In the early hours of Saturday morning, dense fog descended upon various areas of the country, prompting the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) to issue a red alert. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution while driving due to reduced visibility caused by the fog.

The NCM has issued a warning indicating a likelihood of fog formation, leading to a significant deterioration in horizontal visibility, with potential for further reduction at times. The affected areas are highlighted in the advisory map below.

The weather conditions are expected to persist over the weekend, with the UAE facing the impact of a surface depression extending from the southwest. This depression, coupled with upper-level atmospheric disturbances and westerly air currents, is anticipated to bring intermittent light to moderate rainfall, potentially heavy in some regions. The northern, eastern, and coastal areas are likely to experience the heaviest rainfall, accompanied by a drop in temperatures.

For Saturday, the weather forecast indicates a mix of clear to partly cloudy skies, with increasing cloud cover expected in coastal and northern areas by nightfall. Light rainfall is anticipated on Sunday morning, with a subsequent rise in temperatures and moderate northwesterly to northeasterly winds, ranging from 10 to 30 kilometers per hour.
