Cairo: As tensions between Israel and Iran escalate, new revelations suggest that Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad conducted covert sabotage missions inside Iran, targeting air defence systems and missile infrastructure ahead of Israeli military strikes.
Axios journalist Barak Ravid disclosed in an interview with CNN that these sabotage operations were carried out in coordination with Israeli strikes on multiple high-value targets across Iran. The reported sabotage is believed to have played a critical role in neutralising Iran’s air defence capabilities, paving the way for more effective Israeli attacks.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ravid described Mossad’s activities as “covert sabotage operations deep inside Iran,” highlighting the strategic depth and reach of the Israeli intelligence effort.
On Thursday evening, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) launched a series of strikes, hitting dozens of targets, particularly those linked to Iran’s nuclear ambitions and military command structures. According to the IDF, these operations successfully eliminated several senior military commanders.
At the same time, Iranian media outlets are reporting that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander Hossein Salami was killed in the Israeli offensive. However, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian authorities, and casualty figures remain unverified at this time.
