BTS Stars Jimin and Jungkook Complete South Korean Military Service, Fueling Comeback Hopes

Yeoncheon: BTS members Jimin and Jungkook were officially discharged from South Korea’s military on Wednesday, becoming the fifth and sixth members of the iconic K-pop group to complete the country’s mandatory service — a major step toward the band’s long-awaited return.

The globally acclaimed seven-member band had put its collective music career on hold in 2022 to fulfill South Korea’s conscription requirement. The group’s oldest member, Jin, began his service in December 2022, followed by the others in staggered intervals, each serving for up to 18 months depending on their assigned duties.

Earlier this week, BTS leader RM and vocalist V were also discharged, leaving Suga as the final member still enlisted. Suga, who has been fulfilling his duty as a social service agent due to a shoulder surgery, is expected to complete his service by June 21.
