New Delhi: As calls to boycott Turkish products and services intensify in India due to Ankara’s perceived support for Pakistan, New Delhi has clearly articulated its expectations from Turkey—specifically, to push Islamabad to dismantle its cross-border terrorism infrastructure.
At a press briefing on Thursday, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reaffirmed that India-Turkey relations must be grounded in mutual respect and sensitivity to core concerns.
“We expect Turkey to strongly urge Pakistan to end its support to cross-border terrorism and take credible and verifiable actions against the terror ecosystem it has harboured for decades. Relations are built on the basis of sensitivities to each other’s concerns,” Jaiswal stated.
The comments reflect growing unease in India over Turkey’s consistent alignment with Pakistan on certain geopolitical issues, particularly concerning Jammu and Kashmir.

Jaiswal also addressed questions surrounding the cancellation of security clearance for Turkish company Celebi Aviation, which was operating at Indian airports.
“…but I understand that this particular decision was taken by the Civil Aviation Security…” he said, noting that the matter had been discussed with officials from the Turkish Embassy in New Delhi.
India’s message underscores its firm stance on counterterrorism and the strategic weight it places on international actors taking tangible actions against terrorism in South Asia.
