Jerusalem: In light of rapidly intensifying military action between India and Pakistan, Israel has revised its travel advisory and issued a stark warning to its nationals in Kashmir: “Leave immediately”. The advisory, reported by PTI, comes amid growing security concerns following India’s recent strikes on terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab province.
The updated warning was issued by Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, urging its citizens to avoid travel to the Jammu and Kashmir region — with Ladakh being the only exception. Israelis currently present in the area are advised to evacuate at once and follow the guidance of local security forces.
“This advisory is aligned with the National Security Council’s existing travel guidance” ,the ministry stated, reaffirming the urgency of the situation.
Background: Operation Sindoor and Escalating Conflict
India launched Operation Sindoor early Wednesday in a decisive counter-strike targeting nine identified terror infrastructure sites across PoK and Pakistan’s Punjab region. The military action came as a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 civilian lives — marking one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent years.
Following the Indian missile strikes, Pakistan’s military retaliated with intense artillery and mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), targeting several forward villages in Jammu and Kashmir. This exchange is being described as one of the most severe cross-border hostilities witnessed in years.
Pakistan confirmed the death of 31 individuals and injuries to 57 others as a result of the Indian strikes. Additionally, the retaliatory shelling by the Pakistan Army reportedly left 13 civilians dead, including four children and one soldier, with 57 more injured.
Global Reactions: UK Parliament Calls for De-escalation
The escalating conflict has caught international attention. On Wednesday, the situation was debated in the UK Parliament, where lawmakers across party lines voiced concern over the rising violence and its impact on global peace and diaspora communities.
UK Foreign Office Minister Hamish Falconer addressed the House of Commons, reiterating Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s call for diplomacy over escalation.
“Our consistent message to both India and Pakistan has been to show restraint. They need to engage in dialogue to find a swift, diplomatic path forward” ,said Falconer.
He acknowledged the personal resonance of the conflict for many British Indians and British Pakistanis, adding that the Pahalgam terror attack was the most horrific in the region in years and deserved global condemnation. Falconer concluded with a plea for both nations to avoid further escalation, emphasizing that “if this escalates further, nobody wins”.
As the situation unfolds, international stakeholders are watching closely, with urgent appeals for peace and a return to dialogue echoing from capitals across the world.
