Mumbai: After nearly 30 years of redefining action cinema, Tom Cruise is back for the final, most audacious chapter of the Mission: Impossible franchise. The global superstar, known for doing his own death-defying stunts, insists it’s all part of the job — broken ankles, high-altitude leaps, and all. And if you ask him, he wouldn’t want it any other way.
As Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning gears up for a theatrical release on May 17, 2025, across India in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu (available in 4DX and IMAX), Cruise reflects on the sweat, scars, and soul poured into this legendary franchise. From hanging off cliffs to jumping out of planes, Cruise’s dedication has been the beating heart of a cinematic phenomenon that has consistently raised the bar for action filmmaking.
Speaking about the franchise and its ambitious final chapter, Cruise shared,
“The things we do, man…the things we do. There is never an easy day on Mission: Impossible. I wouldn’t have it any other way. This new movie is a gargantuan accomplishment”.
He continued, “It’s a culmination of everything, and I mean everything, that me and McQ (Christopher McQuarrie) have learned in storytelling over the course of making these movies. The Final Reckoning is very elegant, very layered and incredibly epic. And we’ve only been able to achieve what we have because of all the things that we’ve done in this series so far”.
Director Christopher McQuarrie, who has helmed the last four installments, elaborated on their creative pursuit, saying,
“These are the cinematic ghosts we’re always chasing. Tom is always looking at the likes of Buster Keaton, but also Douglas Fairbanks and Charlie Chaplin. People who made action films that were also dramas, comedies, tragedies and triumphs, that set the bar and formed the basis from which modern cinema was born”.
In Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Cruise’s iconic character Ethan Hunt returns for his most high-stakes mission yet—one that’s not only a global threat but also strikes at the very core of his identity. As betrayals mount and time runs dangerously short, Hunt is forced to confront how much of himself he’s willing to sacrifice to save the world. And just when the story seems familiar, it takes a heart-stopping twist that signals this is only the beginning of the end.
This final chapter isn’t just an action spectacle—it’s a cinematic farewell that blends adrenaline with emotion, legacy with innovation, and spectacle with storytelling.
