One of Bollywood’s Costliest Flops, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, to Debut on OTT

Released theatrically on February 21, 2025, Mere Husband Ki Biwi was made on a hefty budget of ₹60 crore, but shockingly, it managed to earn only ₹12 crore during its theatrical run

Mumbai: Every year, Bollywood rolls out a slew of big-budget films hoping to strike gold at the box office. However, not all star-studded projects live up to expectations. One such film that turned out to be a major box office disappointment in 2025 is Mere Husband Ki Biwi. Despite featuring three well-known actors—Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh—the romantic comedy failed to resonate with the audience and critics alike.

Released theatrically on February 21, 2025, Mere Husband Ki Biwi was made on a hefty budget of ₹60 crore, but shockingly, it managed to earn only ₹12 crore during its theatrical run. The dismal response prompted the makers to fast-track its digital release, and nearly two months later, the film is finally set to premiere on OTT.

The streaming rights for the film have been acquired by Jio Hotstar, as revealed in the official posters and trailer. The romantic comedy will be available for streaming starting April 18, allowing audiences who missed the theatrical release to catch it from the comfort of their homes.

Directed and written by Mudassar Aziz, and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh under the banner of Pooja Entertainment, Mere Husband Ki Biwi explores the dynamics of a quirky love triangle. Arjun Kapoor plays Ankur, Bhumi Pednekar stars as Prabhleen, and Rakul Preet Singh essays the role of Antara. The film also features Aditya Seal, Dino Morea, Harsh Gujral, and Anita Raj in pivotal supporting roles.

Though it boasted a talented cast and a potentially entertaining premise, the movie failed to make an impact at the box office, largely due to lackluster word-of-mouth and unfavorable reviews. Audiences found the narrative outdated, and many felt that the humor missed the mark. However, with its digital debut, the film may find a second life among OTT viewers.
