Drone Warfare Escalates: Russia Hits Ukraine with 90 Drones in Overnight Attack

The attack also caused widespread damage in other parts of the country. In Dnipropetrovsk, both residential and commercial buildings were hit, adding to the growing toll on Ukraine’s infrastructure.

Moscow – Russia has carried out one of its largest drone strikes in recent weeks, unleashing nearly 90 drones overnight in a brazen attack on Ukrainian cities. The assault resulted in injuries to at least four civilians and caused significant damage across several regions, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, and others.

Aerial Assault Hits Major Ukrainian Cities

The Ukrainian air force confirmed that 56 of the 88 Russian-launched drones were successfully intercepted, while an additional 24 drones were neutralized using advanced electronic warfare systems. Despite these defensive measures, the attack still caused extensive damage, especially in Kyiv and Kharkiv, two of the most heavily targeted cities.

In Kyiv, the drone debris sparked fires and destroyed a private home. Commercial buildings also sustained significant damage. The city’s mayor reported that three people were injured in the capital.

Meanwhile, in Kharkiv, the northeastern city of Ukraine, drone strikes targeted key infrastructure, injuring one person. Emergency response teams worked quickly to contain the damage and assist affected civilians.

Extensive Damage Across Multiple Regions

The attack also caused widespread damage in other parts of the country. In Dnipropetrovsk, both residential and commercial buildings were hit, adding to the growing toll on Ukraine’s infrastructure.

In the southern region, including the Odesa area, the military reported losses in crucial infrastructure, although full damage assessments are still ongoing.

Russia’s Strategy of Drone Warfare

This latest assault highlights Russia’s continued reliance on drone warfare as part of its broader military strategy. Drones have become a key tool in Russia’s effort to wear down Ukrainian defenses, target critical infrastructure, and disrupt the daily lives of civilians.

As the conflict intensifies, drone strikes remain a central component of Russia’s efforts to exhaust Ukrainian resources and resilience. These attacks are expected to continue, further complicating Ukraine’s defense efforts and escalating tensions on the frontlines.
