Rakul Preet Singh in Talks to Portray Shurpanakha in Nitesh Tiwari’s Epic Ramayan: Reports

Mumbai: As anticipation continues to mount for Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project, “Ramayan”, the ensemble cast grows even more impressive. Already boasting stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, and Lara Dutta portraying pivotal characters such as Lord Ram, Sita, Raavan, Lord Hanuman, and Kaikeyi respectively, the film now seems poised to welcome Rakul Preet Singh into its ranks.

According to reports from Pinkvilla, Tiwari is engaged in discussions with Rakul Preet Singh to tackle the role of Shurpanakha, Raavan’s influential sister, whose actions set the stage for the ultimate clash between Lord Ram and Raavan. Sources suggest that Rakul has undergone a successful look test for the character, signaling her potential involvement. If all negotiations proceed smoothly, “Ramayan” could mark Rakul’s first cinematic endeavor post her wedding with Jackky Bhagnani in Goa.

The epic saga of “Ramayan” is set to commence filming in March 2024, with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi leading the initial charge. Sunny Deol is slated to join the production in May, while Yash’s involvement is scheduled for July. With a targeted release around Diwali 2025, the team plans to conclude filming after Yash’s scenes, aiming to deliver a cinematic spectacle spread across three installments.
