Bolivia Bus Crash Claims Over 30 Lives, Injuries Reported

Among the injured, 10 adults and four children were hospitalized.

La Paz: At least 31 people lost their lives, and more than a dozen others were injured after a bus veered off a steep precipice in Bolivia on Monday, local police reported.

The tragic accident occurred in the southwestern municipality of Yocalla when the driver likely lost control of the vehicle, sending it plunging nearly 800 meters (2,625 feet) down a ravine, a police officer at the local hospital said.

Among the injured, 10 adults and four children were hospitalized, with several in critical condition, according to a hospital official who spoke in a recorded video statement.

The accident took place on a mountainous road notorious for its sharp twists and turns. Authorities suspect that excessive speed may have contributed to the crash, the police officer added.
