Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made a direct appeal to China, urging them to intervene and halt North Korea’s involvement in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Zelensky specifically highlighted the deployment of North Korean soldiers to fight alongside Russian forces, emphasizing the human cost of such actions.

“The Korean nation should not lose its people in the battles in Europe,” Zelensky stated. He went on to assert, “And this can be influenced, particularly by Korea’s neighbors, especially China. If China is sincere in its statements that the war should not escalate, it must exert appropriate pressure on Pyongyang.”
