Isak Andic, Mango’s Visionary Founder, Dies in Mountain Accident

Born in Istanbul, Andic moved with his family to Catalonia, Spain, in the 1960s.

Madrid: Isak Andic, the founder and owner of the global fashion empire Mango, tragically passed away on Saturday in a mountain accident, police confirmed. He was 71 years old.

Andic slipped and fell more than 100 meters from a cliff while hiking with relatives in the Montserrat caves, located near Barcelona, a police spokesperson reported.

Mango’s CEO, Toni Ruiz, paid tribute to Andic, stating, “His departure leaves a huge void, but all of us are, in some way, his legacy and the testimony of his achievements. It is up to us … to ensure that Mango continues to be the project that Isak was ambitious and proud of.”

Born in Istanbul, Andic moved with his family to Catalonia, Spain, in the 1960s. In 1984, he founded Mango, a brand that would become one of the world’s leading fast-fashion retailers. At the time of his death, Andic was serving as the non-executive chairman of the company, with a net worth estimated at $4.5 billion, according to Forbes.
