Russian Air Attack Claims Two Lives in Ukraine’s Mykolaiv Region, Governor Reports

Both Ukraine and Russia deny targeting civilians, yet civilian casualties have persisted since Russia’s invasion began in February 2022, with most victims being Ukrainian.

Kyiv: In an overnight assault, Russian forces launched an airstrike in the southern Ukrainian region of Mykolaiv, resulting in the deaths of two civilians and injuring another, according to the region’s governor, Vitaliy Kim. The attack also ignited multiple residential buildings, escalating the devastation in the area.

“Unfortunately, two people were killed,” Governor Kim announced on his Telegram channel. He added that a 45-year-old woman sustained injuries and has been hospitalized for treatment.

As reported by the international news agency Reuters, they have not independently verified this information, and Russian authorities have yet to comment on the incident. Both Ukraine and Russia maintain that they do not target civilians; however, civilian casualties have been a persistent and tragic reality since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, with the majority of deaths reported among Ukrainians.
