Trump Vows to Impose Tariffs on Mexico and China Over Fentanyl Crisis if Elected

Trump plans to impose a 25% tariff on all goods from Mexico to pressure the government to curb fentanyl trafficking into the U.S.

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced on Monday that, if elected, he would take aggressive action against Mexico and China, imposing tariffs unless both nations implement stronger measures to halt the flow of fentanyl into the United States.

Speaking to supporters at a campaign rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Trump outlined his plans to combat drug trafficking, especially along the U.S.-Mexico border. He emphasized the urgency of the issue, stating that his administration would act swiftly. “We will immediately stop the drugs pouring across our border,” Trump declared to the crowd.

Trump specified that he would enforce a 25% tariff on all goods from Mexico, a measure aimed at pressuring the Mexican government to curb fentanyl trafficking into the United States. He further pledged to take similar actions against China, alleging that China exports fentanyl to Mexico. “Every damn thing that they sell into the United States is going to have like a 25% (tariff) until they stop drugs from coming in. And let me tell you something, those drugs will stop so damn fast that your head will spin,” Trump asserted.

During the rally, Trump also reiterated his commitment to mass deportations of undocumented migrants if he wins the election. His stance on immigration aligns closely with his border security promises, underscoring his broader platform of strict immigration policies and law enforcement.
