A truck rammed into a bus stop at Glilot Junction near Tel Aviv, injuring at least 33 people, with six in critical condition, according to Magen David Adom (MDA) rescue service. The attack took place in an area near Israel’s Mossad headquarters and several Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intelligence units, heightening concerns of a terror-related motive.
The truck collided with a bus and struck individuals at the bus stop, including senior citizens who were exiting the bus, according to local reports. MDA has transported the injured to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment, with emergency responders working swiftly on-site. The incident has raised alarms, especially given its proximity to key intelligence infrastructure and a central highway junction.
Israeli police spokesperson Asi Aharoni stated that the attacker had been “neutralized,” suggesting police action may have involved lethal force. However, it remains unclear whether the suspect was detained or killed.
MDA shared footage showing the truck with an empty bed appearing to have collided with a bus at the crowded stop, situated in a high-security zone that includes the Mossad complex and strategic intelligence locations. The timing follows a national holiday week, with residents returning to work amid heightened regional tensions.
This incident comes as violence escalates in the region. Early on the same day, Hezbollah launched rocket strikes, injuring three in the city of Tamra. A drone attack also injured two near Acre. The Israeli military has warned residents of several southern Lebanese villages to evacuate immediately, signaling impending strikes on Hezbollah targets in the area.
“For your safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately and move north of the Awali River,” Israeli military spokesperson Avichay Adraee announced on X (formerly Twitter), listing over a dozen villages expected to be targeted.
