YES BANK and Rotary Club of Calcutta Magnum Celebrate the Success of the 2nd Edition of ‘Sobar Pujo, Durga Pujo’ Initiative

The initiative, with community support, distributed over 4,800 new clothes, allowing underprivileged children to celebrate Durga Puja with joy.

Kolkata: YES BANK, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Calcutta Magnum, proudly announced the successful completion of the 2nd edition of its ‘Sobar Pujo, Durga Pujo’ initiative. This heart-warming campaign, dedicated to bringing joy to underprivileged children in West Bengal, took place from September 2 to 25, 2024, across 35 YES BANK branches in the state. Through community participation, the initiative collected and distributed over 4800 new clothes, ensuring that underprivileged children from economically weaker sections could partake in the festive spirit of Durga Puja.

Durga Puja is a cherished celebration in West Bengal, a time of unity, devotion, and vibrant festivities. A significant part of this cultural tradition is the joy of wearing new clothes. YES BANK, along with the Rotary Club of Calcutta Magnum, tapped into this sentiment by encouraging contributions from customers, employees, schools, and residential communities. The response was overwhelming, with people from all walks of life coming together to spread joy and ensure that underprivileged children could also experience the magic of the season.

The clothes that were thus collected were distributed at a special ceremony held at Rotary Sadan, Kolkata. Prof. Santanu Ray, Professor Emeritus , Techno India  honoured the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event saw the attendance of representatives from schools, local organisations, and Rotary members, all joining hands to celebrate the spirit of giving.

Reflecting on the success of the initiative, Mr. Nipun Kaushal, Chief Marketing Officer and Head CSR, YES BANK, said, “Durga Puja is a time of immense cultural and emotional significance for communities in West Bengal, and we are delighted to play a role in spreading the festive cheer. The overwhelming response reflects the community’s collective willingness to support a shared cause. We are truly grateful to everyone who participated and made this initiative a success.”

YES BANK’s ‘Sobar Pujo, Durga Pujo’ campaign is part of the Bank’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and fostering inclusivity. By supporting underprivileged children, YES BANK aims to uphold its mission of building a more inclusive society, one where everyone can celebrate the joys of festivals together.
