Meta’s Facebook and Instagram Back Online for Most U.S. Users After Disruption

Downdetector registered more than 12,000 reports of issues with Facebook and over 5,000 for Instagram.

New York: Meta Platforms’ Facebook and Instagram services were largely restored for most users in the U.S. following a brief outage that impacted thousands, according to Downdetector, an outage-tracking website.

At the peak of the disruption, which occurred around 1:35 p.m. ET, Downdetector recorded over 12,000 reports of issues with Facebook and more than 5,000 reports for Instagram. Downdetector compiles these outage figures from a variety of sources, including user-submitted status updates.

By 2:09 p.m. ET, the number of reported issues had significantly decreased, with just 450 Instagram outages and 659 for Facebook. Downdetector emphasized that its data is based on reports submitted by users, meaning the actual number of affected individuals could be higher or lower than reported.
