Israeli Defense Minister Vows Action After Deadly Hezbollah Drone Strike that Killed 4 Soldiers

Haifa— Four Israeli soldiers have been confirmed dead, and 58 others are wounded following a Hezbollah drone strike on an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) base in Binyamina. The attack targeted a Golani Brigade training facility, and military officials have identified the deceased soldiers as Sgt. Omri Tamari, Sgt. Yosef Hieb, Sgt. Yoav Agmon, and Sgt. Alon Amitay—all 19 years old.

In the aftermath, 41 of the wounded soldiers remain hospitalized, with eight in serious or critical condition. Patients are being treated across several hospitals, including Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera, where four remain in serious condition, Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, and Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva. Two soldiers with moderate injuries are receiving care at Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant visited the Golani Brigade base to assess the damage, describing the incident as “a difficult event with painful results.” Gallant emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to improve defense mechanisms against UAV threats. “We are concentrating a national effort to develop solutions that will address this growing threat,” he stated.

The IDF also reported that two additional soldiers were severely injured in separate incidents in southern Lebanon and Gaza. Both soldiers have been evacuated for treatment, and their families have been informed.

Meanwhile, as tensions rise, the United States has issued a warning about a dire humanitarian situation in northern Gaza, where local reports indicate that a strike hit a hospital compound, resulting in five casualties. Rockets were also fired towards Haifa, escalating the regional conflict further.
