Washington: The criminal tax trial for Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, is set to commence on September 9, as confirmed by the U.S. federal judge overseeing the case in a filing issued on Monday.
In December, the Department of Justice charged Hunter Biden with failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019. The allegations include spending millions on drugs, escorts, exotic cars, and other luxury items. Hunter Biden has entered a guilty plea to these charges.
In June, he was convicted by a federal jury in Delaware on separate charges related to false statements about his drug use when purchasing a firearm. This conviction marked him as the first child of a sitting U.S. president to face a criminal conviction.
