The names of the suspects have not been revealed, and it remains uncertain if formal charges have been filed.

Madrid: Spanish police have arrested three pro-Russian hackers in connection with cyberattacks targeting Spain and other NATO nations, according to an announcement made on Saturday. The detainees are accused of conducting distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks aimed at public institutions and strategic sectors.

The Civil Guard reported that these attacks affected both public and private organizations, including government entities and critical infrastructure, in countries supporting Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. The names of the suspects have not been revealed, and it remains uncertain if formal charges have been filed.

A video shared on social media platform X showed a raid at one of the suspects’ homes, where a Soviet-era hammer and sickle flag was displayed.

The Civil Guard identified the hacktivist group NoName057(16) as responsible for the attacks. The group, which became active after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has vowed to retaliate against what it views as hostile actions by Western nations. Their manifesto asserts they “will respond proportionately to the hostile and openly anti-Russian actions of Western Russophobes.”
