Srinagar: Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have identified between 35 to 40 foreign terrorists active in the Rajouri, Poonch, and Kathua sectors of the Jammu region, according to sources. These terrorists, primarily of Pakistani origin, are reportedly operating in small teams with the assistance of local guides and support networks, aiming to reignite terrorism in the area.
Sources within the security establishment revealed that these groups typically consist of 2-3 members who have integrated themselves well into local support structures, as reported by the popular Indian media outlet India Today TV.
In response, military and security agencies are escalating intelligence operations and bolstering the counter-terrorist grid to thwart infiltration attempts effectively, sources added. Special emphasis is being placed on monitoring the international border and strengthening the secondary layer of defense against terrorism. Efforts are also underway to disrupt the networks providing support to these terrorists.
The rugged and densely forested terrain poses significant challenges, necessitating enhanced intelligence gathering and strategic operations.
