South Korea Fires Warning Shots as North Korean Soldiers Cross Border

This marks the third such incursion by North Korean soldiers into South Korean territory this month alone, highlighting ongoing tensions.

South Korea’s military responded on Friday with warning shots after North Korean soldiers briefly crossed the heavily fortified border, marking the third such incident this month. According to Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, several North Korean soldiers crossed the Military Demarcation Line on Thursday morning while working inside the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on the central front line.

The nuclear-armed North has been bolstering its defenses along the border in recent months, including the construction of tactical roads and laying additional landmines. South Korea has reported “casualties” among North Korean troops due to accidental explosions resulting from these activities.

This latest incident underscores ongoing tensions between the two Koreas despite past efforts to ease military tensions and improve diplomatic relations.
