Washington: On June 12, the United States government announced plans to impose a new round of sanctions on Russia, prompting a swift and assertive response from Moscow.

Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov delivered a pointed message during a Russia Day event at the Russian Embassy in Washington, emphasizing Moscow’s readiness for strong retaliation against what it views as unwarranted aggression.

“While Russia remains open to dialogue, we will decisively counter what we view as imposed confrontation,” Antonov stated firmly.

Antonov highlighted the US administration’s acknowledgment of the sanctions with a pointed remark: “The US administration congratulated the Russian people with the announcement of the next package of sanctions,” as reported by TASS.

Despite escalating tensions, Antonov reiterated Russia’s willingness to engage in fair discussions with the United States. “We are not going to impose ourselves as partners. Russia is open to honest and equal dialogue if and when the Americans are ready for this,” the Ambassador affirmed.
