Canada to Send 2,000 Unarmed Rockets and Military Supplies to Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict

Ottawa: Canada is set to dispatch approximately 2,000 surplus unarmed rockets to Ukraine, along with a variety of other military supplies, announced Defence Minister Bill Blair on Thursday. The rockets, confirmed to be without warheads, have undergone meticulous safety checks by Canadian specialists in preparation for shipment, according to a statement released by Blair’s office.

A spokesperson for Blair reiterated via email that Canada intends to eventually send warheads to Ukraine but did not provide specific details on the timeline or quantity, as reported by the international news agency Reuters. Additionally, Canada plans to deliver 29 German-manufactured remotely controlled weapon stations designed to be mounted on different types of armored vehicles. The shipment will also include 130,000 rounds of small arms ammunition.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Canada has pledged over C$14 billion (approximately $10.2 billion USD) in total support to Kyiv, including C$4 billion in military assistance.
