Lebanon Fires 90 Projectiles into Israel After Senior Hezbollah Leader Killed

Tel Aviv: In a recent escalation of tensions between Israel and Lebanon, the Israeli military has disclosed that around “90 projectiles” were launched from Lebanon into northern Israel. This exchange of fire followed an Israeli strike that claimed the life of a high-ranking Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon.

According to an official statement from the Israeli military, multiple projectiles were successfully intercepted, but some landed in northern Israel, sparking fires in several areas. This incident marks yet another episode in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, exacerbated by the recent hostilities initiated by Hamas, Hezbollah’s Palestinian ally, on October 7, which led to the Gaza war.

The volatile situation has resulted in near-daily cross-border skirmishes, with both sides exchanging fire. The intensified clashes have also led to the outbreak of multiple brush fires along the border, exacerbated by soaring temperatures in the region.

The most recent barrage of projectiles from Lebanon comes in the wake of the Israeli strike that targeted and killed a senior Hezbollah commander. The commander, identified as Taleb Sami Abdallah, known by his alias Abu Taleb and born in 1969, was reportedly a significant figure within Hezbollah’s ranks.

According to a source within the Lebanese military, Abdallah’s death represents a substantial blow to Hezbollah, describing him as “the most important” figure within the organization to be killed since the onset of the conflict.

The Israeli strike, which targeted the town of Jouaiyya, situated approximately 15 kilometers (nine miles) from the border, resulted in the fatalities of Abdallah and three other individuals, as confirmed by the Lebanese military source.
