President Biden Responds to Trump’s Debate Challenge

Biden expresses willingness to engage in debates, even suggesting multiple rounds US President directly addresses Trump, proposing potential dates for the debate, indicating a readiness for the showdown.

President Joe Biden has openly responded to Donald Trump’s apparent challenge for a debate, stating, “Donald Trump lost two debates to me in 2020, and since then he hadn’t shown up for a debate.” In what appears to be a willingness to engage, Biden quipped, “Well, make my day, pal. I’ll even do it twice.”

Addressing Trump directly, Biden suggested picking dates for the debate, teasing, “Donald, I hear you’re free on Wednesdays.” The exchange marks a potentially lively showdown between the two political heavyweights.

In a rare moment of agreement between political rivals, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump found common ground: the necessity of debating. Amid months of uncertainty regarding the format and scheduling of the traditional pre-election debates, the 2024 showdowns were swiftly announced Wednesday morning, following Biden’s campaign criteria for participation.

The decision was far from certain, given Trump’s previous dismissal of his party’s primary debates as irrelevant and Biden’s team’s reservations about the conventional debate structure and timetable.
