London/Srinagar: Amidst the surging wave of protests resonating against the high prices of wheat flour and inflated electricity bills in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), a striking image has emerged on social media, amplifying the simmering discontent to an international platform. A poster directed at the Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir, prominently displayed outside the High Commission in London, UK, has ignited controversy and drawn global attention.

The viral photograph of the poster depicts General Asim Munir, head of the Pakistan Army, labelled as a ‘terrorist, traitor, and thief’. Such vehement accusations have resonated globally, mirroring the rising dissent and public outcry against authoritarian regimes across the world.
The language employed in the poster is stark and uncompromising, branding General Munir as ‘the curse of millions of Pakistanis’. Notably, the inclusion of a Swastika sign, drawing an indirect parallel to the infamous Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, underscores the gravity of the sentiment conveyed. Phrases such as ‘Burn in hell, Die like a dog, Election thief’ further amplify the condemnation of the military leadership.
As protests in Pakistan-administered Kashmir escalate, reports indicate three fatalities and six injuries as security forces allegedly opened fire on demonstrators who clashed with paramilitary Rangers. The region has been engulfed in widespread protests, with a total strike against the soaring prices of wheat flour and inflated electricity bills and taxes extending into its sixth day on Wednesday.

Request to the Indian Government
On Tuesday, BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Ravinder Raina urged the central government to address the issue of “atrocities by the Pakistan army” on the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir at the United Nations.
“It is deeply regrettable that the people of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir are currently enduring exploitation and cruelty,” Raina told reporters in Rajouri.
“We implore Foreign Minister Jaishankar ji to take this matter to the United Nations to bring it to light. The atrocities committed by the Pakistan army cannot be overlooked. We stand in solidarity with the people of PoK; they are our brethren. They are our citizens,”Raina added.

Accusing the Pakistan army of perpetrating “atrocities and torture” against residents in several areas of Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PoK), Raina voiced concern over reports of the entire region being under lockdown for the past five days. He expressed apprehension regarding casualties among individuals from the Pahari community in firing incidents involving the Pakistan army.
“Our people in PoK asked for ration but received bullets. This is unacceptable to us. We care deeply for our people there,” he said.
Raina stressed that the oppression by Pakistani authorities is not sustainable and will be met with resistance.
