Drone Attack Targets Oil Processing Plant in Russia’s Bashkiria, Confirms Regional Leader

Moscow: Radiy Khabirov, the head of Russia’s Bashkiria region, disclosed on Thursday via his Telegram channel that a drone had targeted Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, an oil processing, petrochemical, and fertilizer complex. Despite the attack, Khabirov assured that the facility continues to operate normally.

According to reports from the state RIA news agency, the drone strike inflicted damage to a pumping station building at the plant, which stands as one of Russia’s largest. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, as confirmed by emergency services.

The escalation of drone attacks on Russian oil processing facilities by Ukraine has been evident since the beginning of the year. Moscow categorizes these assaults as acts of terrorism and has retaliated with what it claims to be counterattacks targeting Ukrainian infrastructure.

In contrast, Ukraine defends its actions, asserting that the oil facilities serve as legitimate targets that support Russia’s military endeavors.

Earlier on the same day, a Ukrainian drone attack ignited a fire and caused damage to multiple storage tanks at a fuel depot in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region, according to local authorities.
