Ukraine Claims It Shot Down Russian Su-35 Fighter Jet Amid Ongoing Aerial Clashes

The Su-35 is one of Russia's most advanced multi-role fighter jets.

Kyiv: Ukraine’s armed forces announced on Saturday that they successfully downed a Russian Su-35 fighter jet during an aerial operation, marking a fresh blow to Russia’s air superiority amid intensifying hostilities.

“This morning, on June 7, 2025, as a result of a successful Air Force operation in the Kursk direction, a Russian Su-35 fighter jet was shot down,” the Ukrainian military stated via Telegram.

The statement provided no further operational details regarding the strike. Russia’s defense ministry has not yet responded, and the claim remains unverified by independent sources, including Reuters.

The Su-35 is one of Russia’s most advanced multi-role fighter jets, and its loss, if confirmed, would be a symbolic and strategic setback for Moscow, especially as aerial warfare has become increasingly critical in the ongoing conflict.
