London: U.S. R&B singer Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court after agreeing to pay a £5 million ($6.7 million) security fee, enabling him to proceed with his scheduled world tour set to begin next month.
The 36-year-old artist faces a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm, stemming from what prosecutors described as an “unprovoked attack” on music producer Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub in 2023.
Brown has not yet been required to enter a plea. He was not present in Southwark Crown Court when Judge Tony Baumgartner approved the bail terms on Wednesday.
Known for chart-topping hits such as “Loyal”, “Run It”, and “Under the Influence”, Brown is scheduled to launch his “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour on June 8 in the Netherlands. The legal clearance marks a significant development for the artist as preparations for the international tour intensify.

The singer was arrested last week at a hotel in Manchester, marking his first return to the UK since the nightclub incident two years prior. A judge initially denied him bail on Friday. However, bail was later approved with the condition that Brown pay £4 million immediately, with an additional £1 million due within seven days.
