New Delhi: In a growing diplomatic standoff, India has expelled another official from the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, declaring the individual persona non grata over alleged misconduct. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced the decision on Wednesday, stating the Pakistani diplomat had been engaged in “activities not in keeping with his official status in India.”
As per protocol, the expelled official has been instructed to leave the country within 24 hours.
“The Government of India has declared a Pakistani official, working at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, persona non grata for indulging in activities not in keeping with his official status in India. The official has been asked to leave India within 24 hours,” the MEA said in its official statement.
This is the second such expulsion within a short span. On May 13, India had already ousted another Pakistani official for engaging in actions deemed incompatible with diplomatic norms. That expulsion came shortly after a senior Indian military officer briefed foreign defence attachés and representatives from approximately 70 countries on the success of Operation Sindoor — a recent high-level military initiative highlighting India’s counterterrorism capabilities.
The repeated expulsions underscore the growing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, as India continues to adopt a firm stance on diplomatic conduct and national security.

While Islamabad has yet to issue an official response to this latest development, previous expulsions have often triggered reciprocal actions, further straining diplomatic channels between the two countries.
These events come amid heightened vigilance from Indian authorities regarding foreign diplomatic personnel suspected of overstepping their designated roles, particularly in areas concerning internal security.
