Quetta: In a dramatic and unprecedented move, Mir Yar Baloch, a prominent representative of the Baloch people, has unilaterally declared the independence of Balochistan from Pakistan. Citing decades of systemic oppression, enforced disappearances, and grave human rights violations, the Baloch leader took to social media platform X to announce what he called the “national verdict” of the Baloch people.
Mir Yar Baloch proclaimed that the residents of Pakistan-Occupied Balochistan (POB) have unequivocally rejected Pakistani sovereignty over the region and are now asserting their identity and demand for freedom.
“Tum maroge hum neklengy, hum nasal bachany neklay hain. Aao hamara saath do. Baloch people across Pakistan-Occupied Balochistan are on the streets. This is their national verdict: Balochistan is not Pakistan. The world can no longer remain a silent spectator,” he declared.
Addressing Indian citizens, media houses, digital platforms, and intellectuals, Baloch appealed for greater clarity and solidarity, insisting that the global narrative must distinguish the Baloch struggle from the Pakistani state.
“We are not Pakistani, we are Balochistani,” he emphasized. “Pakistan’s own people are the Punjabis who have never faced air bombings, enforced disappearances, or genocide. The Baloch people have suffered decades of bloodshed.”

His remarks come amid renewed tensions between India and Pakistan over contested territories, particularly Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). In a strong endorsement of India’s position, Mir Yar Baloch extended full support for New Delhi’s call for Pakistan to vacate PoJK.
“Balochistan fully supports India’s decision asking Pakistan to vacate PoK,” he stated. “If Pakistan fails to heed this, it may face another humiliation like the 1971 surrender of 93,000 soldiers in Dhaka.”
Further escalating his criticism, the Baloch leader accused the Pakistani military of war crimes in the disputed regions, alleging that civilians in PoK are being used as “human shields.” He placed direct responsibility for any resulting conflict on Pakistan’s military leadership.
