Karachi: In a late-night announcement, the Pakistan Army claimed that India fired six ballistic missiles from within its own borders, all of which landed inside Indian territory. The unexpected statement was broadcast on Pakistan’s national television at 1:50 a.m. local time on Saturday (2050 GMT), offering no accompanying evidence to substantiate the allegation.
“I want to give you the shocking news that India fired six ballistic missiles from Adampur. One of the ballistic missiles hit in Adampur, the rest of the five missiles hit in Indian Punjab area of Amritsar,” said the spokesperson of Pakistan’s military in a brief recorded message. No further military or civilian details were immediately shared.
The alleged missile incident, if verified, would mark a rare and serious misfire involving ballistic weaponry within a nuclear-armed region already fraught with historic tensions.
Meanwhile, in India, local officials appeared to respond to an unspecified emergency during the same time period. The district commissioner of Amritsar issued a message between Friday night and Saturday morning, urging residents to stay calm:
“Don’t panic. Siren is sounding as we are under red alert. Do not panic, as before, keep lights off, move away from windows. We will inform you when ready to resume power supply.”

The Indian government has not issued a formal response or confirmation regarding the alleged missile launch or any resulting incident.
This development comes amid strained relations between the two countries, with recent diplomatic exchanges focusing on security, cross-border tensions, and regional stability.

While the origin and intention behind the claimed missile launches remain unclear, the lack of corroborating information from either side underscores the fragile nature of communications and trust in the region.
