India’s Navy Conducts Successful Anti-Ship Missile Tests as Tensions Escalate with Pakistan

This display of naval power comes just days after the tragic terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 people were killed.

Panaji: As tensions between India and Pakistan escalated following a targeted terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Navy demonstrated its maritime strength with a successful test of multiple anti-ship missiles in the Arabian Sea. The drill showcased the Navy’s advanced long-range precision offensive strike capabilities.

The Navy shared the news in a post on X, accompanied by a video and images from the test firing. The post emphasized that the Navy remains “combat ready anytime, anywhere, and anyhow.”

“Indian Navy Ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate the readiness of platforms, systems, and crew for long-range precision offensive strike. Indian Navy stands combat-ready, credible, and future-ready in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow,” the Navy stated.

This display of naval power comes just days after the tragic terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 people were killed. The victims included 24 tourists from across India, a Nepalese national, and a local Kashmiri tourist guide. The attack, which occurred on April 22, saw Pakistan-backed terrorists open fire on tourists at the Baisaran meadow, located around six kilometers from Pahalgam town in Anantnag district.

In response to the attack, the Indian government announced several punitive measures against Pakistan. The suspension of the Indus Water Treaty was a key move, alongside the closure of the Attari border and the downgrading of diplomatic ties with Pakistan, in protest of its continued involvement in cross-border terrorism.
